Is Alvin Kamara playing today? Injury updates for Saints RB vs. Raiders

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara is dealing with a groin injury. Here are the latest updates.

For much of this New Orleans Saints season, running back Alvin Kamara was doing what he normally does by being a shining beacon through a disappointing campaign.

Kamara has been dealing with a groin injury for the past couple of weeks, though, not playing since partway through the matchup against the Washington Commanders in Week 15.

The star running back doesn’t have much to play for, except for being on the verge of his first 1,000-yard season. Still, there have been rumors about his return, starting with the Week 17 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Alvin Kamara injury update

Despite the optimism, though, he has yet to return to practice since being plagued with the injury. He was ruled out against the Raiders earlier in the week.

How long will Alvin Kamara be out?

With just one game left and him still missing practices, it does not seem likely that he will make his return. Perhaps the 1,000-yard mark is really important to him, though, and he pushes for a return in the season finale. He is 50 yards short.

Saints RB depth chart

One positive to come from the injury is that New Orleans will not get a shot ro look at who they have behind Kamara in game settings. Kendre Miller was expected to get most of the carries, but distribution was fairly even still with Jordan Mims. One thing that doesn’t make sense is further Jamaal Williams carries.

  • RB Kendre Miller
  • RB Jordan Mims
  • RB Jamaal Williams
  • RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (practice squad elevation)
