One of Iowa’s transfer portal targets is headed West instead.
The Hawkeyes offered former Northern Illinois wide receiver Trayvon Rudolph and hosted the speedster on a visit earlier this month.
Despite Iowa’s interest, Rudolph inked with the San Diego State Aztecs. The 5-foot-10, 187 pound receiver made the move official on Christmas Eve.

In the 2024 season, the 5-foot-10, 187 pound receiver reeled in 37 passes for 392 yards with one 43-yard touchdown grab in the Huskiesâ season-opening win over Western Illinois. Rudolph also rushed 14 times for 179 yards and had a pair of scores on the ground this past season.
Rudolph garnered second-team All-MAC honors as both a wide receiver and kickoff returner in 2021 and third-team All-MAC honors in 2023.
Iowa will have to turn its attention elsewhere now. Thus far, the Hawkeyes have added a pair of players via the transfer portal in former Auburn quarterback Hank Brown and former Central Michigan defensive tackle Jonah Pace.
During the 2024 season with Central Michigan, Pace totaled 34 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, six quarterback hurries, four sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble and one blocked kick. According to Pro Football Focus, Pace had 20 total pressures a season ago.
Meanwhile, Brown appeared in three games with Auburn this season, completing 27-of-43 passes (62.7%) for 403 yards with six touchdowns against three interceptions.
Brown saw action against Alabama A&M, New Mexico and Arkansas during the 2024 season. The Nashville, Tenn., product also played in the Tigersâ bowl game to end the 2023 season versus Maryland.
Brown completed 7-of-9 passes for 132 yards against the Terps.
