Iowa women’s basketball lands commitment from 2024 guard Teagan Mallegni

One of Wisconsin’s best, 2024 guard Teagan Mallegni, decided Iowa City is her next stop after high school and committed to the Hawkeyes.

There’s no time like the present to capitalize on a historic run to the 2023 NCAA Tournament’s national championship game.

After a 31-7 season that included a march to the program’s second all-time Final Four appearance, the Iowa Hawkeyes are looking to strike while the iron’s hot. They’ve done so by landing a commitment from one of Wisconsin’s finest.

Teagan Mallegni, a class of 2024 guard out of McFarland High School in Wisconsin, committed to the Hawkeyes on Saturday. The talented guard is rated as the nation’s No. 59 player overall in the 2024 class per ESPN’s HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings.

Mallegni was sensational for McFarland this past season. She averaged 24.5 points, 11.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 3.9 steals and 1.7 blocks per game. The 6-foot guard led the Spartans to their first state tournament appearance since 1999.

Mallegni joins guards Taylor Stremlow of Verona High School in Wisconsin and Callie Levin of Solon High School in Iowa. Levin picked the Hawkeyes over other offers from Iowa State, Drake, Purdue, Utah, Arkansas, Oklahoma State and Marquette.

Per Hawkeye Report‘s Kyle Huesmann, Stremlow was rated as the No. 4 player from Wisconsin in the 2024 class by Prep Girls Hoops.

Iowa also has a 2024 commitment from talented big Ava Heiden out of Sherwood High School in Sherwood, Ore. Heiden is ranked as the nation’s No. 42 overall player per ESPN.

Here’s a little bit more on the latest player to commit to Lisa Bluder and the Iowa Hawkeyes in the 2024 class.
