Iowa stars share excitement for ‘EA Sports College Football 25’

Leshon Williams already has his gameplay strategy perfectly mapped out.

Everyone is excited about the upcoming release of “EA Sports College Football 25.” After more than a decade-long wait, the famed video game series will make its return on July 19 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S.

While fans can’t wait to see their favorite college football traditions come to life, their excitement might actually pale in comparison to the players themselves.

For the first time in the series’ history, college football stars will truly be able to play with themselves in the game for the first time. Thanks to EA’s NIL offer to athletes, this college football game will feature players with their names on the back of the jerseys.

Several Iowa stars shared their excitement for the video game franchise’s return in a media availability on Tuesday. Graduate cornerback Jermari Harris said he can’t wait for the game to drop.

“Oh yeah, yeah. No doubt. We didn’t think about that when coming back and that’s just a bonus,” Harris said. “To be in that first game back, it’s going to be a blessing. I’ve got a bunch of people back home asking if I’m going to be in the game. ‘Yeah, I’m gonna be in the game. I’m gonna be pretty decent, too.'”

Harris isn’t getting caught up in whatever his player rating winds up being either.

“No. Not at all. I’m not worried about my rating. At the end of the day, I’m going to go out there and do what I’ve got to do and everything will take care of itself,” Harris said.

It’s a little bit different story for senior running back Leshon Williams. A self-proclaimed “heavy Madden player,” Williams has an idea for what his player rating should look like.

“I can work with like an 85 at least. If they do anything below an 85, I don’t know about that. I can’t do that. Anything below that, that’s unacceptable,” Williams said.

Alongside quarterback Cade McNamara, Williams was featured in the “EA Sports College Football 25” official reveal trailer taking part in the Hawkeye Wave.

“I was hype. I posted it on Instagram quick. You know, I’m like, ‘Man, look at me.’ That was very nice. I didn’t know that I was gonna be in it. I had a couple people send it to me, but that was very exciting.

“They ain’t fix me up with no tattoos or nothing, though, so I’m a little off on that, my drip. I ain’t got no wristbands or nothing. It’s just naked arms. It’s all good, though. As long as I’m on the game,” Williams said.

Williams has his whole attack plan figured out, too. Asked if he would be getting all the carries, Williams has other ideas.

“No, because I heard it’s a wear and tear now. So, I’m probably going to start off Kaleb and Jaz and let them get the wear and tear. When it’s crunch time, put me in. I already got the game plan. I already got the whole strategy down. That’s how I’m gonna do it,” Williams said.

Smart man. Come in and find paydirt late with fresh legs and the game on the line.

Harris said the top-rated players should be on the defensive side of the football.

“Probably (Sebastian) Castro or Jay Higgins. If the game is how it really is, we’re gonna have Castro flying around and doing what he does along with Jay,” Harris said.
