The Iowa Hawkeyes did win on Saturday night against Michigan State. It was an electric win. But, it could also prove to potentially be a costly win. Iowa is now turning to Deacon Hill to take over the reins at quarterback for Cade McNamara.
Fortunately, the Hawkeyes found a way to pull out a victory to avoid panic setting in for fans and all of Iowa City. Even with the win, CBS Sports slid the Hawkeyes down one spot. Iowa currently sits at No. 36 in the CBS Sports 133 Rankings.
The upcoming opponent, the Purdue Boilermakers, finds themselves a bit down the rankings at No. 67. The Boilermakers sit at 2-3 currently, but are coming off a dismantling of the Illinois Fighting Illini in which they won 44-19.
Iowa welcomes Purdue in for a Week 6, Big Ten West showdown inside Kinnick Stadium. The Boilermakers are 1-1 in Big Ten play with their loss coming to the Wisconsin Badgers.
Last year, the Hawkeyes handled business against Purdue when they squared off in West Lafayette. Iowa won handily in a 24-3 victory that was spurred on by Kaleb Johnson. The freshman running back ran all over the place for 200 yards on the ground.
