Another day, another Iowa Hawkeye finds themselves on a preseason watch list going into the 2024 college football season.
Drew Stevens enters his third year with the Iowa Hawkeyes and is manning the kicking position for them. He burst onto the scene during his freshman season going 16-18 on field goal attempts and a perfect 24-24 on extra points.
Heading into this season, he is on the preseason Lou Groza Award Watch List.

Each year, the Lou Groza Award is presented to the top place-kicker in all of college football.
Created by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission in 1992, the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award stands today as the most prestigious award for collegiate kickers. The Lou Groza Award, presented by the Orange Bowl Committee, is given annually to the nation’s top collegiate place-kicker in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). – Lou Groza Award
If Stevens were to take home the award, he would join Nate Kaeding, another former Hawkeye in bringing home the trophy. Kaeding won the year in 2002.
Stevens enters his junior year with a point to prove. Throughout his career at Iowa, the native of North Augusta, South Carolina, and North Augusta High School, has made 77.3% of his field goals and 97.7% of his extra points with just one miss.
With Iowa hoping to be a much-improved offense in 2024, Stevens could play a vital role in scoring points if the Hawkeyes can get into his field goal range more often.
