The Iowa Hawkeyes are clicking at the right time. After taking some time to figure out their identity and who they are as a team, this squad is rounding into form down the stretch.
Iowa’s offense is humming and dominating with their physicality, the defense has turned things up a few notches to shut down opposing offenses, and the special teams unit is excellent as always. The recent success has moved Iowa to 6-3 (4-2 Big Ten).
Their play and dominant win over Wisconsin has been rewarded, as well. In this week’s CBS Sports 134 College Football Rankings, Iowa saw a big jump by climbing seven spots from No. 36 to No. 27.
The Hawkeyes aren’t the only team climbing in these rankings, though. Iowa’s next opponent, the UCLA Bruins, are seeing a huge ascent themselves after a big win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
UCLA, who was just 2-5 before last weekend, knocked off the Cornhuskers to improve to 3-5 (2-4 Big Ten) on the year and was given a 14-spot climb up to No. 76 in the rankings.
The Hawkeyes and Bruins square off this week in a rare Friday night contest out west as Iowa makes their first road trip to one of the Big Ten newcomers.
Kickoff between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the UCLA Bruins is set for 8:00 p.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 8 at the Rose Bowl and will air on FOX.
