On Saturday, the Iowa Hawkeyes take on the Wisconsin Badgers under the lights inside Kinnick Stadium for a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff on NBC.
The Hawkeyes will look a little different when they take the field. Rather than their traditional home uniform of a black helmet, black jersey and yellow pants, the Hawkeyes will break out an all-black uniform.
Iowa’s official account on X posted a cryptic video simply stating “Lights Out” with a flickering light and a silhouette of a player in uniform that led to quick speculation.

It did not take long for news to break that the speculation and the cryptic tweet were in fact a hint of the all-black uniforms. John Steppe of The Gazette gained confirmation from an Iowa spokesperson.

It remains to be seen if the uniforms will be Iowa’s standard home black uniforms with the switch to black pants or if there will be an entirely new wardrobe for the Hawkeyes.
In what could be a good omen or a grasp at pulling out some old magic, the last time the Hawkeyes hosted Wisconsin inside Kinnick Stadium was Nov. 12, 2022. The Hawkeyes won that game, 24-10, while donning all-black uniforms.
