A nationwide consensus seems to be growing around the Iowa Hawkeyes. Sure, they aren’t shattering any offensive records or wowing people with plays, although Kaleb Johnson and Leshon William may beg to differ. But there is a consensus of growing respect around how this team simply continues to find ways to win.
Iowa has rattled off three straight wins and put themselves in command of their destiny in the Big Ten West. Their remaining schedule, while not easy or automatic, is manageable with five Big Ten games remaining.
Things lately have been good enough to have the Hawkeyes ranked once again in the US LBM Coaches Poll at No. 23. They are also cracking the top 25 in the CBS Sports 133 coming in at No. 25. This is a jump of seven spots week-over-week and is the second-largest jump in the top 25 behind only Tulane, who climbed 12 spots.
Iowa’s next opponent, the Minnesota Golden Gophers trended the opposite way this week despite a bye. The Golden Gophers are 3-3 overall with a 1-2 record in Big Ten play. Minnesota is currently ranked at No. 81.
Iowa hosts Minnesota this Saturday, Oct. 21, inside Kinnick Stadium at 2:30 p.m. CT.
