Iowa Hawkeyes slide in CBS Sports 134 College Football Rankings

The Hawkeyes tumbled down this week’s rankings.

This past weekend was not kind to the Iowa Hawkeyes. Not only did they have to travel across the country and get home late with their body clocks all out of order, but they also had to do it after laying an egg against UCLA in a 20-17 loss.

The lackluster showing drops Iowa to 6-4 overall with a 4-3 mark in the Big Ten, both of which have led to some disappointment after the hype and anticipation surrounding this team entering the season.

Dropping this game also has the Hawkeyes dropping in this week’s CBS Sports 134 College Football Rankings. Iowa is sliding four spots down from No. 29 to No. 33 following the loss.

UCLA is seeing the opposite movement in the rankings compared to Iowa. After starting off the year 1-5, UCLA has surged to 4-5 overall with their eyes set on stealing a bowl bid.

The Bruins’ win over Iowa catapulted them up seven spots to No. 69 in the rankings.

Iowa is fortunate to have this week off as they can rest and recover during the bye as they seek answers on how to finish the season strong. The Hawkeyes resume action in Week 13 when they make another cross-country road trip.

Iowa’s next game is on the East Coast this time. The Hawkeyes will square off against the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 11 a.m. CT from SECU Stadium in College Park, Maryland.
