Iowa Hawkeyes named Pro Football Focus’ Offensive Line of the Week

After another day of dominating on the ground, Pro Football Focus has named the Iowa Hawkeyes their Offensive Line of the Week.

Once again, the Iowa Hawkeyes leaned on their offensive line. They plowed the way to another massive day on the ground along with keeping the quarterbacks clean.

This has been a trend for the Hawkeyes this season. The offensive line play has been borderline outstanding and a strength of this team. It has gotten back to, if not exceeded, the typical standard for an Iowa offensive line.

Against Washington, Iowa did not allow a sack along with paving the way for 220 rushing yards. This performance has them named Pro Football Focus’ Offensive Line of the Week.

Iowa graded out with an 84.5 PFF grade and a 94.9 pass-block grade with just two pressures allowed and no sacks.

This was the fifth time in six games that Iowa has surpassed 200 yards on the ground. They have put up rushing totals of 251 yards, 204 yards, 284 yards, 272 yards, and 220 yards this year.

On the year, Iowa is averaging 222.8 yards per game and a strong 5.8 yards per rush. They have punched in 14 rushing touchdowns already.

Just as equally impressive is Iowa’s pass protection. The Hawkeyes have allowed just nine sacks through their first six games, barely more than one per contest.

With Iowa’s defense rounding into form, their recipe for success is a strong ground game, and that starts up front. This unit has been great so far this year and is showing signs that they are only going to get better.
