Another week, another two wins for the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team. The Hawkeyes took down Michigan State at home 76-73 with the clutch heroics of Caitlin Clark and followed it up with a 103-69 dismantling of Rutgers on the road.
The two wins in Big Ten play showed something to the voters and it has the Hawkeyes climbing the AP Top 25 Women’s College Basketball poll. Iowa jumped up one spot to No. 3.

Sitting ahead of the Hawkeyes are two undefeated teams. The 14-0 UCLA Bruins check in at No. 2 and received one vote as the country’s top team, while the 14-0 South Carolina Gamecocks are holding steady at No. 1 with 34 votes for the top spot.
Just behind the Hawkeyes is 14-0 Baylor at No. 4 and 13-1 Colorado at No. 5. Iowa is entering the thick of Big Ten play and needs to hold serve not only to continue to ascend in the rankings if anyone slips but to stay put where they are.
Iowa’s next week is a big one as they take on two teams from Indiana. First up on Wednesday, Jan. 10, the Hawkeyes head to West Lafayette to take on the Purdue Boilermakers (9-5, 2-1 Big Ten).
After that, Iowa hosts their biggest game yet. Iowa welcomes in the No. 14 Indiana Hoosiers (13-1, 4-0 Big Ten) in a primetime matchup at 7 p.m. CT on FOX.
