Iowa football’s Kaleb Johnson named B1G Offensive Player of the Week

Kaleb Johnson finally gets his rightfully deserved recognition.

What Kaleb Johnson is doing for the Iowa Hawkeyes this season has become impossible to ignore. What may have been thought of as taking advantage of an early-season slate has transformed into the start of a special season.

After rushing for 206 yards and three touchdowns against the Minnesota Golden Gophers in Iowa’s 31-14 victory in their Big Ten opener, Johnson has received some rightful praise and recognition.

Following his electrifying performance, Kaleb Johnson has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.

Through four games, with action in just 3.5 of those games, Johnson is up to 685 rushing yards on just 82 carries. He is averaging 8.4 yards per carry and has found the end zone nine times already this season.

Johnson is leading the Hawkeyes’ strong run game with 171.3 rushing yards per game. He is also pitching in when he can in the passing game with seven receptions on the year.

Johnson is the leading rusher in America right now through four weeks with a 99-yard lead over Boise State’s star running back, Ashton Jeanty.

Iowa and Kaleb Johnson now head into a bye week that is coming at the right time to allow him and the offensive line to get healthy before another tough Big Ten road test.

Iowa resumes action on Saturday, Oct. 5 with a road trip against the Ohio State Buckeyes.
