Iowa football’s Kaden Wetjen wins Jet Award as nation’s top return specialist

The best in the nation.

The very best in the entire nation.

Kaden Wetjen, the Iowa Hawkeyes return specialist, can officially claim that title as he stands alone.

After a special year in 2024 that saw Kaden Wetjen explode onto the scene and electrify games with his kickoff and punt-returning ability, he is officially the best in all of college football.

Kaden Wetjen has been named the winner of the Jet Award, an award given out annually to the top return specialist in college football.

Kaden Wetjen, who joined Iowa as a walk-on, was given the opportunity to take over the return game for Iowa and special teams coordinator LeVar Woods this year and did not disappoint.

Wetjen returned 26 punts for an average of 12.6 yards per return and had an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown against the Northwestern Wildcats.

In the kickoff return game, Wetjen returned 26 kickoffs for an average of 28 yards per return with a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown against the Missouri Tigers in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl.

The walk-on, who is trending towards picking up a scholarship, if he returns, has said that he is likely to come back to Iowa for another year to continue as their returner and possibly an expanded role in the offense with his explosiveness.
