Iowa football WR Kaleb Brown utilizing redshirt, sitting out rest of season

Iowa football wide receiver Kaleb Brown announced he will be utilizing his redshirt and sitting out the remainder of the 2024 season.

After not seeing a ton of action through the first five games of the 2024 season, Iowa Hawkeyes junior wide receiver Kaleb Brown has made a decision to preserve some of his collegiate football eligibility.

Kaleb Brown announced on his Instagram that he will be electing to utilize his redshirt and not be playing in any more games for the rest of the season.

“I have decided to utilize my redshirt year and will not be playing in any additional games this season. I wish my teammates the best of luck this season and hope for the continued success of the program,” Brown said in his announcement.

Brown, who was inactive last week with an injury that arose sometime over the bye week, had just one catch this season for Iowa. The decision to list him inactive raised some eyebrows that this move may be coming and it has come to fruition.

Brown, the former transfer from Ohio State, registered just one reception with the Buckeyes in 2022. Last year with Iowa he hauled in 22 receptions for 215 yards and one touchdown.

While this does impact Iowa’s depth on offense at the receiver position, it does not shake up the starting lineup at all as Jacob Gill and Reece Vander Zee have taken over starting duties.
