The Iowa Hawkeyes have found some new success on the ground this year after a few years of regression. There is the success of running back Kaleb Johnson, but it truly all starts up front in the trenches with the offensive line.
Iowa’s offensive line, while it has seen some ups and downs, overall has taken a large step forward this year and seen drastic improvement.
Their efforts this year are not going unnoticed, as so much often does with offensive line play not getting the credit it deserves. The Iowa offensive line is getting credit this time as they have been named a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award.

The Joe Moore Award is given out annually to the most outstanding offensive line unit in all of college football. The award, which started in 2015, has been awarded to the Hawkeyes once. Iowa was crowned as the best offensive line in college football in 2016.
Iowa’s run game and its statistics are evidence as to their place on this list. Iowa has run for more than 200 yards seven times this year, is on pace to break to Iowa program record for rushing yards in a single season, and is averaging 208.1 yards per game to go with 27 rushing touchdowns.
