The Iowa Hawkeyes (6-3, 4-2 Big Ten) take on the UCLA Bruins (3-5, 2-4) at the Rose Bowl Friday. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Iowa vs. UCLA odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.
The Hawkeyes eradicated the Wisconsin Badgers 42-10 as 2.5-point favorites last week for their second straight win. RB Kaleb Johnson rushed 24 times for 135 yards and 3 TDs. QB Brendan Sullivan threw the ball just 10 times with 7 completions for 93 yards. Iowa, which blew out Northwestern 40-14 the week before, is on a 4-0 Over run.
The Bruins are also on a 2-game win streak. They upset Nebraska 27-20 as 7.5-point road underdogs last Saturday and won at Rutgers 35-32 as 4-point dogs Oct. 19 before a bye. Against the Huskers, QB Ethan Garbers was 17-for-25 for 219 yards with 2 TDs. He also led the Bruins in rushing with 56 yards on 6 carries — lead RB T.J. Harden had 46 yards on 11 carries.

Iowa at UCLA picks and predictions
Prediction
Iowa 31, UCLA 27
Moneyline
UCLA (+190) is 0-3 at home this season. Meanwhile, Iowa (-250) is 1-2 away from the Hawkeye State. This feels like a trap game. Iowa’s last road trip ended in a 32-20 defeat at Michigan State as a 6.5-point favorite Oct. 19. I’m not confident at all in the Hawkeyes, and even more so at -250.
PASS.
Against the spread
I like UCLA in this pocket. The Bruins return home after pulling off back-to-back upsets on the road. They’ll use that momentum to pluck the Hawkeyes and stay within a touchdown.
TAKE UCLA +6.5 (-105).
Over/Under
Iowa is 8-1 O/U, largely in part to its propensity to go north of 30. In fact, the Hawkeyes have gone for more than 30 points 6 times this season. Ironically enough, that was in all 6 of their wins. Meanwhile, the Bruins are 3-5 O/U, but they’ve gone Over in 2 straight.
TAKE OVER 44.5 (-110).
