International prospect Thierry Darlan, who was born in the Central African Republic, told Jonathan Givony of ESPN that he has committed to play next season with the NBA G League Ignite.
Darlan, who is with the NBA Academy Africa in Senegal, was viewed as perhaps the top international prospect in his class. He received scholarship offers from several top collegiate programs, such as Arizona and Kansas.
The 6-foot-7 point guard is the fourth player to commit to the Ignite for next season, joining Matas Buzelis, London Johnson and Babacar Sane. He is the third player from the NBA Academy Africa to sign, joining Sane and Efe Abogidi, who are with the team.

The 19-year-old first started as a shooting guard at the NBA Academy but eventually changed to a traditional point guard. He is highly touted for his overall ability on both ends of the court and has a 7-foot-1 wingspan that should intrigue teams at the next level.
Darlan had the opportunity to perform in two exhibition games in front of scouts at the G League Winter Showcase in December. He was also among the prospects that competed in the seventh annual Basketball Without Borders Global Camp at All-Star Weekend.
Darlan is draft-eligible this year, but will instead opt to play one year with the Ignite in order to continue his development. He views playing with the Ignite as a natural progression through the league’s development system following his time with the NBA Academy.
