Interim defensive coordinator Gerald Chatman has Mike Sanford fired up

Mike Sanford is excited about Gerald Chatman’s newfound opportunity

It was been a whirlwind of a Sunday for Colorado football. Head coach Karl Dorrell and defensive coordinator Chris Wilson were dismissed and offensive coordinator Mike Sanford was elevated to the role of interim head coach. Corresponding moves were also made at the OC and DC positions.

It was also announced on Sunday that tight ends coach Clay Patterson will be moving into Sanford’s vacated role at OC and defensive line coach Gerald Chatman has gotten the nod at DC.

Sanford was asked about what Chatman brings to the table on Sunday during a press conference:

“Based off of where we are at at this point, (Chatman brings) energy, life, accountability (and is) someone who is built to inspire,” Sanford Said. “When I sat in on his unit meeting with the defense, I was fired up. I was ready to go play sound, fast, simple defense for Gerald Chatman”
