In-state offensive lineman Lowen Colman-Brusa is important target for Huskies

In-state target Lowen Colman-Brusa is a massively underrated recruit that could be a starter down the line for the Huskies.

While the state of Washington isn’t always the most fruitful recruiting grounds in the country, the Huskies’ coaches, led by Jedd Fisch, always have their eyes open for any potential stars. One of these targets is 2025 offensive tackle Lowen Colman-Brusa from powerhouse Kennedy Catholic in Burien.

Colman-Brusa has just begun to show up on recruiting radars, with offers from Duke and Washington at the FBS level and an offer from FCS Portland State. It may be wise for the Huskies to lock up Colman-Brusa’s services soon to stave off a potential influx of offers.

It doesn’t hurt Colman-Brusa’s profile that his brother, Derek, is one of the top edge rushers in the 2026 class. While the elder Colman-Brusa is talented in his own right, the Huskies may be gunning for a package deal where both brothers end up in Seattle.

Pegging offensive linemen as swing tackles can sometimes be seen as a negative or knock down their potential ceiling on the outside and while it may be true for some, Lowen has a chance to succeed and thrive at either spot.

Offensive linemen with smooth and efficient slides paired with high-level athleticism make for an intriguing foundation for any coaching staff to work with. For the Huskies, getting a player like Colman-Brusa in the building and then figuring out what position he should play is key.

He has experience at both left and right tackle in high school. The biggest concern with him sticking at tackle is that his arms may not measure up to accepted thresholds and will hold him back in dealing with more athletic and prototypical framed rushers. Those with longer arms may be able to defeat his initial strikes and get around him.

All of that said, Colman-Brusa at least deserves the chance to play tackle first. He is shockingly technically sound for a high school player. He understands defender leverage and can efficiently bring players to the ground by using their momentum against them. Adding weight and strength to his game will give him a better ability to anchor in the passing game when faced with bull rushes.

In the run game, Colman-Brusa is quick to pull and attack collapsing defenders. He will be a weapon in zone running schemes and can be asked to do several different things on the move. As in the passing game, if Colman-Brusa can add good weight to his frame he will become even more impactful.

It’s rare to find players with the amount of upside that Colman-Brusa has so far down the recruiting rankings, especially at a high-value position like offensive line.

The Huskies’ other in-state target on the offensive line, Demetri Manning, committed to the rival Oregon Ducks on Tuesday, meaning offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll’s full attention should turn to earning a commitment from Colman-Brusa.
