In-state 4-star running back recruit to be on hand for season opener

This in-state running back will be joining the multitude of prep prospects visiting the Swamp for the season-opener.

The start of the 2022 college football season is just a couple of days away and the Florida Gators are getting set for the new Billy Napier era to begin against the Utah Utes in the Swamp on September 3. But there is more than meets the eye on the field as the nascent head coach and his staff works tirelessly to secure the future of the Orange and Blue.

The opening game is a big deal to the fanbase but might be an even bigger deal on the recruiting front. The Gators are set to host a myriad of prep prospects from the 2023, 2024 and 2025 classes this Saturday, including four-star running back [autotag]Anthony Carrie[/autotag] out of Tampa (Florida) Carrollwood Day, a representative from the middle of those three classes who plans on joining the growing crowd in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium that evening.

The 5-foot-11-inch, 186-pound ball carrier has made one stop prior in Gainesville under Napier, joining in on the Friday Night Lights camp and receiving a re-offer from the program shortly after. He has also received offers from other top schools including the Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, USC Trojans, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State Buckeyes, Texas Longhorns and Oregon Ducks.

Carrie is ranked No. 97 overall and No. 4 at his position in his class nationally according to the 247Sports composite, while the On3 consensus has him at Nos. 105 and 6, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has UGA out front in the race for his talents with a 33.5% chance of landing him while the Gators are at 19.8%.
