Among the prospects the North Carolina basketball program reached out to in the most recent open period was 2026 recruit Coleman Cloer. The in-state prospect has drawn interest from the Tar Heels early in his recruitment; Hubert Davis and his staff are hoping to make a good first impression.
As Cloer continues on the AAU circuit, he’s starting to make a name for himself. Schools are starting to show interest as well.
In an interview with Travis Branham of 247Sports, Cloer talked about his recruitment and the teams involved, including North Carolina. Here is what he had to say on the Tar Heels:
He grew up following the blue-blood schools and told 247Sports that his dream is to play at a blue blood, so he further shared his thoughts on the Tar Heel program.
“UNC is great,” he said. “That’s 30-minutes away from my house, I would be close to home, and it’s a blue blood. It’s one of the best programs in the country and has been for many years.”
Aside from North Carolina, Cloer has heard from Marquette and N.C. State.
That will certainly change as his recruitment picks up in the coming years, and one has to wonder if North Carolina has made that good early impression.
