The Duce Robinson story has many dimensions at USC. Will his baseball aspirations get in the way of his football path? What kind of player can Lincoln Riley create and develop if Robinson does play for the Trojans?
We aren’t going to be able to fully answer all of these questions right away, but we can certainly being speculating! The fuller reality of Robinson’s situation is that he will want to see where he stands in the MLB draft pecking order this summer. Then he will likely make a decision on exactly how he wants to organize his sports-playing career, either as a dual-sport (football and baseball) athlete or in one of the two sports.
USC hopes to derive benefit from Robinson’s skills, both in football and baseball, but nothing is known with absolute certainty just yet. However, it’s obviously better to win Robinson’s recruitment than lose it.
Our friends Tim Prangley and Rick Anaya at The Voice of College Football host Trojan Conquest Live every Sunday at 8 p.m. Eastern and 5 p.m. Pacific. They offered a short bonus episode in reaction to Duce Robinson’s commitment. They’ll have more on Duce Robinson on their upcoming Sunday show.
