The Green Bay Packers lost quarterback Jordan Love to an injury and then lost the game to the Philadelphia Eagles a few plays later, capping off a potentially disastrous start to the 2024 season on Friday night at Arena Corinthians in Brazil.
The Packers struggled in the red zone and committed 10 penalties in the 34-29 loss to the Eagles. Love, who signed a $220 million deal, left late in the fourth quarter after suffering what appeared to be a lower-body injury.

The Packers turned three takeaways into just nine points. Twice in the first quarter, a takeaway set up the Packers inside the 20-yard line, but failures in the red zone resulted in nothing more than a 6-0 lead. In the second half, the Packers had a chance to take the lead after Jaire Alexander’s momentum-changing interception but again settled for a field goal.

Love completed 17 of 34 passes for 260 yards, two touchdown passes and one interception before exiting the game on the third-to-last play with a lower body injury. He needed help exiting the playing field. On a slippery field, Love continually had issues with his footing. His accuracy came and went. His interception in the second half led to seven points for the Eagles. Love’s passer rating finished ay 83.0, but his injury situation is the biggest story now.
