With the 48th pick in the 2022 NFL draft, the Bears selected Penn State safety Jaquan Brisker.

The Bears are focused on improving their secondary. After selecting cornerback Kyler Gordon with the 39th overall pick, the Bears have selected another defensive back for Matt Eberflus’ new defense.

Brisker is a physically-gifted safety that plays with aggression and relentlessness. He can play deep safety, box safety, and in the slot. As a defender, he’s fearless against the run and has ball-hawking ability.

In his final year at Penn State, he was named second-team AP All-American and First-team All-Big Ten. In his three-year career at Penn State, Brisker totaled 151 tackles, 13 pass deflections, and five interceptions. He played through injuries in his last year at Penn State and will bring the toughness that people expect from the Bears defense.

He’ll have a chance to play immediately on special teams and might find a role given the current uncertainty around the depth at safety behind Eddie Jackson, Dane Cruikshank and DeAndre Houston-Carson.
