It’s becoming a week in and week out style of play for the Chicago Bears, if you haven’t noticed. The Bears defense can only do so much while the offense continues to struggle. We saw that on Monday Night Football as the Bears suffer a frustrating 24-10 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
The easiest way to summarize the game against the Rams was that the Bears weren’t ready. In the first half it seemed like it was going to be your typical close game where the game could down to the wire, but in the second half the Rams had everything working.
Not many teams have been able to do this in the past three seasons, but the Rams were able to pick apart the Bears defense. It was a balance of running and passing that helped the Rams move the ball. The Rams totaled 166 yards on the ground and 207 yards through the air.
The Bears offense couldn’t keep up with the Rams. The running game was kept in check by defensive tackle Aaron Donald and the pass rush flustered Nick Foles with four sacks, an interception in the end zone, another interception late in the game and a couple of missed opportunities on poor throws.
In a game that seemed to be all LA, the Bears were able to find a bright spot as safety Eddie Jackson suffered a non-contract injury earlier in the game, but was able to return and later returned a fumble for a touchdown. The Bears defense scored twice as many points (7) as the offense (3) did tonight.
The media hasn’t given the Bears much respect this season and this loss won’t help. The Bears have a couple chances to make up for it as next week they take on the New Orleans Saints then the Tennessee Titans.
