The recruitment of five-star forward Jarin Stevenson could be hitting the stretch run here in the month of June after he wrapped up visits including one to North Carolina last week. And now, it appears as if the Tar Heels and another program are the favorites to land him.
Jamie Shaw of On3 is reporting that it’s a two-team race for the Pittsboro, North Carolina native as UNC is battling Alabama to land him.
The 6-foot-10, 200-pound Stevenson recently visited UNC and he posted photos of his visit on Saturday afternoon. Shaw then tweeted hours later with a picture of Stevenson at Alabama and at North Carolina.

Stevenson is a five-star recruit that has offers from 7 programs but has visited UNC, Alabama, Virginia, Georgetown and Missouri.
He’s ranked No. 16 nationally, the No. 3 power forward and the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247Sports composite rankings.
If UNC can beat out Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide, it would give them four commitments in 2024 with three of those players being five-star recruits in the class. Stevenson would join Ian Jackson, Drake Powell and James Brown for what is currently the No. 1 class in the cycle.
