Fans hoping to see improved play from the running game may still be thirsting for more out of the ground attack, but it’s worth remembering Penn State was playing without a full deck of offensive linemen, with some notable reinforcements still to come later in the summer.
Keyvone Lee and freshman Kaytron Allen each led the team with eight carries for similar yardage. Devyn Ford got some playing time late in the scrimmage.
Five-star running back Nick Singleton took the first handoff of the afternoon in a pre-scrimmage two-point conversion drill but was held without a single rushing yard on four carries in his Nittany Lion spring debut. But, like Allar’s spring performance, it isn’t worth throwing any caution flags in the air at this point.
