Inside the box score: Key stats from Penn State’s first-round rout of Texas A&M

A look at some of the key stats from Penn State’s convincing victory over Texas A&M

The Penn State men’s basketball team continued its hot streak in the month of March with a dominant victory over Texas A&M on Thursday night.

Andrew Funk and Jalen Pickett led the Nittany Lions to a 76-59 victory over the Aggies in the first round of the NCAA Tournament’s Midwest Region in Des Moines, Iowa. It was about as solid a victory as the final score suggests.

Penn State took a few minutes to get comfortable at the start, but quickly established control and opened a 16-point lead going into halftime. The second half was more of the same with more hot shooting from behind the 3-point line and stiff defense that forced Texas A&M to put up bad looks.

Here are five stats and takeaways from the box score of Penn State’s first-round victory over the Aggies.
