Injury update: Lu Dort suffered concussion against Celtics

OKC Thunder wing Lu Dort suffered a concussion against the Boston Celtics and has entered protocol, the team announced.

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced on Sunday afternoon that guard Lu Dort suffered a concussion during the Saturday game against the Boston Celtics. The wing has been placed in concussion protocol.

Dort took an elbow from Jaylen Brown in the third quarter of the 111-94 loss. He exited the game and did not return. Dort finished the game with 10 points, two rebounds and a block in 16 minutes.

The concussion protocol process does not have a predetermined timetable, so it’s not clear how much time Dort will miss. The Thunder play four games this week, beginning with a Monday night matchup against the Dallas Mavericks.

Dort is averaging 12.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game this season while shooting 32.7% from 3, each of which are sizable improvements from last year. He continues to be one of the better perimeter defenders in the league and started all 41 games he has appeared in this season.

With his absence, the Thunder will not have a single player from the opening day starting lineup active in the coming games. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is out with right foot plantar fasciitis, Darius Bazley suffered a left shoulder contusion, Al Horford has been shut down for the season and George Hill was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.
