The Kansas City Chiefs held their third padded practice of the week on Sunday. Like yesterday’s practice, this practice came with some good injury news and some bad injury news. Here’s the full list of players who didn’t practice:
- CB Alex Brown (Knee)
- CB Antonio Hamilton (Groin)
- CB Lavert Hill (Hamstring)
- DB Juan Thornhill (PUP)
- DT Derrick Nnadi (Ankle)
- DT Devaroe Lawrence (Excused)
- DT Chris Jones (Groin)
- LB Darius Harris (Excused)
- TE Deon Yelder (Groin)
- WR Sammy Watkins (Groin)
- WR Byron Pringle (Hamstring)
- OT Martinas Rankin (PUP)
There was also one injury during the course of practice, to Chiefs LT Eric Fisher. According to Nate Taylor of The Athletic, Fisher walked off under his own power and was replaced by veteran OL Mike Remmers. Herbie Teope of the Kansas City Star noted that this occurred during team drills and says that Fisher eventually left the field to go inside with a trainer. Andy Reid later confirmed that Eric Fisher suffered a concussion and is in the protocol.
Reid said that Sammy Watkins strained his groin a little bit. He didn’t seem to be too concerned about the severity of the injury. Reid also confirmed an ankle injury for DT Derrick Nnadi.
Cornerback depth is a recent concern with Reid confirming that Brown had suffered a torn ACL, Hamilton is still absent from practice with a groin injury and now Hill suffered a hamstring injury. The Chiefs had one cornerback return to practice today as rookie CB BoPete Keyes was back in pads and practicing for the first time. Keyes began training camp on the non-football injury list with an orbital fracture. Expect him to be activated from the list on the NFL’s official transaction report with his return.
One final note, Clyde Edwards-Helaire dressed for practice but didn’t do much. Reid said that the rookie running back was dehydrated which was why he didn’t do a lot of work.
