The injury status of three key Missouri players is known ahead of the No. 16 Tigers’ date with Auburn on Saturday morning.
Pete Thamel of ESPN reports that Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III is expected to play this Saturday after sustaining a shoulder injury during the 3rd quarter of last week’s game at UMass. Burden notched five catches for 59 yards, as well as 68 yards on two carries before exiting Saturday’s 45-3 win over UMass.
Burden is tied with Theo Wease Jr. for the team lead in receptions with 31, and leads the team in receiving touchdowns with four. According to Pro Football Focus, Burden has caught 77.5% of his targeted passes with two drops.
The news of Burden’s status provides a small sigh of relief to Missouri fans. However, the Tigers will be without linebacker Khalil Jacobs and defensive end Joe Moore III for the remainder of the season. According to a report from Joey Van Zummeren of Missouri Tigers on SI, Jacobs left last Saturday’s game at UMass with an undisclosed injury while Moore missed last week’s game due to the injury he suffered in Missouri’s loss at Texas A&M on Oct. 5.
The initial SEC Student-Athlete Availability Report is set to be revealed Wednesday evening, providing a clearer picture of who will be available for Saturday’s game between Auburn and No. 16 Missouri on Saturday.
