Injury Report: Warriors’ Draymond Green late scratch on Thursday vs. Nuggets

Before the start of Thursday’s game against the Nuggets, Draymond Green was a late scratch due to right calf tightness.

On the second leg of a road back-to-back on Thursday, Klay Thompson was initially the only starter expected to miss the game against the Denver Nuggets for the Golden State Warriors. However, before the game tipped off, the Warriors ruled out their defensive captain.

Before the contest started, Draymond Green was ruled a late scratch due to right calf tightness. Jonathan Kuminga is slated to join the starting lineup, alongside Steph Curry, Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney.

Green played 39 minutes in Golden State’s overtime loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night. The veteran forward notched a double-double with 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field to go along with 12 rebounds, four assists and a steal.

During the 2022-23 season, Green is averaging 7.9 points on 51.4% shooting from the field with 7.5 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game.

Without Green, Golden State’s shorthanded frontcourt of Kuminga, Looney and JaMychal Green will need to step up in a matchup against reigning back-to-back Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic.

The Warriors are slated to tip off against the Nuggets at 6 p.m. PT on Thursday.
