After eliminating the Boston Celtics in six games to secure the 2022 NBA title, the Golden State Warriors return to the court as defending champs to open the 2022-23 season on Tuesday night at San Francisco’s Chase Center against the Los Angeles Lakers.
While the contest is expected to feature familiar names Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Jordan Poole, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Warriors will be without a key piece off the bench in the season opener.
Andre Iguodala has been ruled out on Tuesday night due to left hip injury management. Along with Iguodala, rookie Patrick Baldwin Jr. is also listed on the injury report as questionable due to a right thumb sprain.

Patrick Baldwin Jr. is questionable for the Warriors in the season opener with a right thumb sprain. Andre Iguodala starts season inactive. Left hip injury management. Otherwise clean report for Warriors. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook all probable for Lakers.

Baldwin Jr. impressed during the preseason, scoring in every contest off the bench and knocking down at least one 3-pointer in four of Golden State’s five preseason games. If he’s able to play on Tuesday, the 28th pick from the 2022 NBA draft will join Steve Kerr’s bench unit that features fellow young players Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and James Wiseman.
The Warriors will host the Lakers on Tuesday night, with the tip set for 7 p.m. PT.
