Washington QB Alex Smith (calf) is expected to be on the field for practice today, which is a good sign. It’s possible if he feels good enough, he could do individual drills. But he needs rest and rehab, not reps, so no one is pushing him to practice.

A flurry of snow held media members out of practice on Wednesday in Ashburn, but reports from the team show that quarterback Alex Smith was limited with the calf-strain that he was hampered by on Sunday, while rookie running back Antonio Gibson continued to be sidelined by the turf toe injury that kept him out of the first game of his career this past week.
As of now, we don’t clearly have a good idea on whether or not either player will be able to suit up for this weekend’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, but it’s something that we will continue to keep a strong eye on throughout the rest of the week.
Without both guys on the field this past week, Washington’s offense struggled mightily to get anything going, with Dwayne Haskins coming in as relief for an injured Smith. Ron Rivera has said this week that should Smith not be able to play, they are confident that Haskins will be able to step up and lead them, considering he will have a gameplan that is tailored to his abilities.
