Indianapolis Colts WR Josh Downs doesn’t practice for second straight day

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs did not practice on Thursday for the second day as he works through a toe injury.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver was sidelined during practice for the second straight day, according to the injury report.

Downs is dealing with a toe injury that he suffered in Sunday’s game against Jacksonville, according to the Indy Star’s Nate Atkins.

We are at the stage of the week where two missed practices becomes more worrisome when it comes to Downs’ availability. Perhaps it’s just additional time for Downs to rest his injury and he will be back on Friday, but oftentimes, three missed practices isn’t a great sign for a player’s availability.

Downs has been a go-to target of Joe Flacco’s over the last two games. During that stretch, he’s had 21 targets, 17 receptions, and 151 yards with a score. Downs has brought some much-needed stability to the Colts’ short and intermediate passing games.

In addition to the unknown around Downs’ status for Sunday’s game, a report from Adam Schefter says that the Colts will be without Michael Pittman for multiple weeks, and as of Thursday, Jonathan Taylor still hasn’t practiced this week.

Some good news is that Anthony Richardson was a full participant on Thursday, but against a physical and stingy Titans’ defense, the Colts could be without several of their top playmakers.
