Indianapolis Colts Week 5 latest injury report: Anthony Richardson practices again

Anthony Richardson was back on the practice field for the second day in a row. Here is a look at the Indianapolis Colts Thursday injury report.

The Indianapolis Colts released their Thursday injury report ahead of their Week 5 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Returning to the practice field were Braden Smith and Zaire Franklin.

Franklin was out Wednesday with an illness and Smith a knee injury, which has forced him to miss some practice time–but no games–over the last two weeks.

Quarterback Anthony Richardson was again limited as he works his way through an oblique injury. Earlier in the week, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Richardson is “day to day.”

Richardson said on Wednesday that he was a little sore but felt good.

Still not practicing was Jonathan Taylor. Some good news is that Taylor would tell reporters before practice that this ankle sprain isn’t as severe as the one he had in 2022 that had him in and out of the lineup.

According to the Indy Star’s Joel Erickson, Taylor did not yet rule out playing on Sunday.

Also still sidelined were Kenny Moore, Kwity Paye, and Ryan Kelly. Moore and Paye exited the Colts’ Week 3 game against the Bears with injuries, did not practice last week and were out against Pittsburgh.

The depth of both the defensive line and cornerback positions are very much being tested right now. Up next is a matchup with the Jaguars, who despite their 0-4 record, have had an efficient run game, along with rookie receiver Brian Thomas generating some big plays in the pass game.

Kelly, meanwhile, has been out since last Thursday, which included missing Sunday’s game. In his place was rookie Tanor Bortolini, who did impress in his debut.

Lastly, in addition to Smith and Franklin returning to practice, so did linebacker Grant Stuard. Through four games, Stuard is third on the team in special teams snaps.
