Indiana at Rutgers: Three things to know
- Indiana has alternated wins and losses in its last four outings, suffering a 78-71 setback to Michigan State Saturday as a 6.5-point home favorite. Sophomore F Trayce Jackson-Davis is third in the Big Ten with 20.2 points per game and second in the conference with 9.4 rebounds per game.
- Rutgers is on a 2-game skid and has dropped three of its last four. The Scarlet Knights were upset 68-59 at home by Maryland Sunday as 4.5-point favorites. Junior G Ron Harper Jr. leads the Knights with 15.5 PPG, while junior C Myles Johnson pulls down a team-high 8.5 RPG and is second in the Big Ten with 2.3 blocks per game.
- Rutgers upset Indiana 74-70 Jan. 24 behind senior G Gio Baker’s game-high 19 points, including 4 3-pointers. The Scarlet Knights were 5.5-point underdogs and won in Bloomington, Ind., for the first time in four visits.

Against the spread (ATS)
Bet the SCARLET KNIGHTS -3.5 (-110) for a HALF-UNIT. This may be somewhat surprising, but they’re 4-1 in the last 5 in this series.
The reason for the half-unit play is because is the Hoosiers are so “Jekyll and Hyde.” They tend to play well following a bad outing and are 4-1 ATS after a straight-up loss.
ATS: Indiana 12-9-1 | Rutgers 10-10-1
Over/Under (O/U)
UNDER 132.5 (-105) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager. I’ve mentioned this in almost every Indiana piece I’ve written this season: IU’s backcourt is inconsistent and stinks shooting the ball.
In Saturday’s loss to Michigan State, junior G Rob Phinisee (0-for-6) and senior G Al Durham (0-for-4) were a combined 0-for-10 from the field, including 0-for-6 behind the arc.
Rutgers, which averages 68.1 PPG in Big Ten play, is on a 4-0 Under run and 3-10 O/U in its last 13 games.
Plus, both teams are awful when it comes to free throws. IU shoots 66.7% from the charity stripe, and Rutgers is even worse at 62.5%.
O/U records: Indiana 12-9-1 | Rutgers 9-11-1
