The No. 2 Auburn Tigers closed out non-conference play in style on Monday by taking down Monmouth, 87-58 at Neville Arena in Auburn.
Auburn outshot Monmouth 44% to 37% and scored 20 points off of 11 turnovers. The Tigers also dominated the boards by hauling in 46 rebounds compared to Monmouth’s 27, and Auburn’s bench outscored the Hawks 31-10.
Auburn’s road to victory was difficult, as Monmouth’s first three field goals were from beyond the arc. The Hawks led by as many as five points before Auburn regained the lead for good with 6:20 to go in the first half.
[autotag]Johni Broome[/autotag] and [autotag]Dylan Cardwell[/autotag] recorded double-doubles for the Tigers. Broome scored 14 points, while Cardwell scored 12. Both players notched 11 rebounds.
