Immaculate Grid’s new owner already made the MLB guessing game better

The MLB guessing game has been acquired.

You knew it was only a matter of time until Immaculate Grid — the super-fun new daily MLB guessing game — got acquired.

And this new owner makes a lot of sense.

With IG dropping its second game on the day of the 2023 MLB All-Star Game, there was also a link to this news: Sports Reference LLC — which owns all the Reference sites like Basketball Reference, Pro Football Reference and, of course, Baseball Reference — announced it acquired the game.

This unique opportunity and acquisition for Sports Reference is the company’s first venture into expanding its websites to have playable content. With over one million users a day, Baseball Reference hopes to drive new traffic to the game, and vice versa,” the announcement read.

“Moving forward,” it continued, “the Immaculate Grid game will now be integrated into Baseball-Reference.com, enticing players to dive down the rabbit hole of the site and learn more about players, teams, and statistics.”

Already, you can see a new feature with possible answers for each square of the grid, which is just great:

This is so helpful when, say, you want to know the 14 players who had 200 hits for the Yankees.
