It looks like Iman Shumpert’s time with the Brooklyn Nets is about to come to an end. Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Thursday the wing will be waived to make room for Wilson Chandler, who is set to return from his 25-game suspension on Sunday.
Shumpert signed with the Nets back on November 13, essentially filling in for Chandler while he was unavailable.
During Shumpert’s time in Brooklyn, the Nets have gone 9-4, with the chance at another win on Saturday. The wing made an instant impact on the defensive end — which is exactly what he’s been known to do. He also provided the Nets with another veteran presence.
Now, it did not always seem evident Shumpert was the one Brooklyn would dump, which could normally leave reason to think the wing was upset with the organization.
Shumpert may not like the move — though, who would in his position — but he still thinks highly of the Nets as an organization, based on his response to the news on Twitter:
The Brooklyn Nets are a first class organization from top to bottom. It was great to be with you guys even for the short stay! I’m around.
