Tuesday night’s game between Michigan State and Illinois was a very physical and hard-fought Big 10 battle. One that left star player and front runner for the National Player of the Year award Ayo Dosunmu with a broken nose. A source confirmed to The Athletic that Dosunmu has been fitted for a mask but is unsure whether he will suit up tonight for Illinois against Nebraska.

Dosunmu has averaged 21.0 points per game with 6.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game this season. He has also recorded two triple-doubles this season, which is tied for the most in the NCAA this season.

Mady Sissoko, is the player responsible for the broken nose, as he swung down on Dosunmu as he was coming towards the basket. Dosunmu drove down the lane, but Josh Langford swiped the ball from Dosunmu and it ricocheted off Dosunmu and Sissoko out of bounds. Dosunmu still went through the shooting motion and Sissoko still went through the blocking motion. Sissoko proceeded to swat down and went across Dosunmu’s face. This resulted in a flagrant two and Sissoko was ejected from the game.

This has riled up Illinois fans calling for Sissoko to be suspended or to be permanently banned from college hoops. Watch Sissoko and the Spartans take on No. 4 Ohio State at 9 p.m. EST on ESPN tonight.
