Idris Elba will voice Knuckles in the second Sonic the Hedgehog film, but he’s not going to give the echidna a sexy voice, much to everyone’s dismay.
In a recent interview, Elba remained tight-lipped about Sonic the Hedgehog 2, save for this one hilariously bizarre comment about his performance.
“Honestly, I cannot say. Contractually, I cannot say anything,” Elba said via ScreenRant. “But I wouldn’t say he was sexy. I don’t think I’m going for that. That’s for sure.”
Well, there you have it. The cartoon echidna will likely not swoon you, no matter how badly certain places on the internet would wish this wasn’t the case.
Though Elba’s excitement about voicing the character is well-known by this point, even going as far as to give the fist-bump to the official Sonic film Twitter account. Check it out below.

Let’s hope this startling revelation won’t keep Sonic the Hedgehog 2 from making it on another best video game adaptations list. Guess we will find out when Sonic the Hedgehog 2 releases on April 8, 2022.
