The No. 3 Oregon Ducks welcome the Idaho Vandals to Autzen Stadium Saturday for the season-opening game for both programs. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Oregon vs. Idaho odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Vandals had a strong 2023 season, finishing 9-4 and tied for second in the Big Sky. Despite a solid start and a playoff win, they fell to Albany in the FCS quarterfinals. This season, Idaho faces a rebuilding phase on offense after losing key players, though they do return 5 starters. On defense, the Vandals bring back 8 starters, making that unit a strong point for the team this season.

The Ducks are coming off a 12-2 season, which included a 2nd-place finish in the Pac-12. Following a 34-31 loss to Washington in the Pac-12 title game, Oregon dominated Liberty 45-6 in the Fiesta Bowl. This year, Oregon retools its offense behind QB Dillon Gabriel, who transferred in from Oklahoma, and returns standout WR Tez Johnson, setting up a potent passing attack. While the defense lost some key players, it should still hold up well against Big Ten competition.

Idaho at Oregon picks and predictions

Prediction

Oregon 56, Idaho 13

Moneyline

PASS.

No moneyline was offered and you wouldn’t bet it even if there was one. Look to the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET IDAHO +44.5 (-110).

Oregon might be the clear favorite, but Idaho’s a solid FCS team that shouldn’t be overlooked. Sure, the Ducks blew out Portland State in last season’s opener 81-7, but Idaho should give them more of a challenge.

Both teams lost some key offensive players, and while Oregon reloaded, a 44.5-point spread still feels too high. The Ducks will win, but once they ease up, the Vandals should cover.

Grabbing Idaho and the points seems like the better move.

Over/Under

BET OVER 62.5 (-110).

Even though the Ducks have cashed Under tickets in 9 of its their last 13 games, their offense is explosive, ranking 2nd in the nation last season with 44.2 points per game.

Idaho averaged a solid 32.3 points per game. With both teams capable of putting up big numbers, the Over looks like the way to go.
