Iconic college mascot gets COVID-19 vaccine…no, really

I…nevermind.

Do you ever pick up a newspaper after you see a seemingly ridiculous headline, read the article and wonder to yourself: “What in the hell did I just read?”

That happened to me Monday night.

I admit up front that the only thing this has to do with Notre Dame football is this mascot was finishing his first football season at LSU when the Irish beat the Tigers in the Capital One Bowl on New Year’s Day in 2018.

But reading some different college football stories online Monday night I stumbled into the following:

“LSU’s tiger mascot, Mike VII, has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19”

In a world where lotteries and prizes are being given away in order to encourage folks to get vaccinated, the actual LSU Tiger has received his shots against the virus.

Does this make Mike less popular in his community now?

Is Albert the Gator in Gainesville refusing to take his call now?

Did Mike VII’s actions give UGA X the courage he needed to go get his vaccination?

I have many more questions but I should probably just go to bed.
