The PGA Tour successfully held its first major event this past weekend with zero positive coronavirus tests, as all 487 tests administered last week before the start of the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club returned negative. Players who are playing in this week’s RBC Heritage at Harbour Town were tested a second time over the weekend, and will be tested again when they arrive in South Carolina before play begins.
Nearly every league is mandating regular COVID-19 testing as a part of its health and safety plan, which means that in order to get back to work, athletes are going to have to get used to a very uncomfortable process. PGA Tour veteran Ian Poulter documented his coronavirus test, which involves a health official shoving a swab up your nose. Very, very far up your nose.
