If you’ve ever played a very bad round of golf then chances are you and your buddies sat around a table in the clubhouse afterward and could only laugh at how poorly you had just played.
Laughing at yourself can only help things.
Well, pros are just like us, folks.
Ian Poulter shot a 5-over 77 in his first round of The Players Championship on Thursday. He then had some lunch in the players’ room with a few of his friends – Rory McIlroy (+7), Tyrrell Hatton (+4), and Henrik Stenson (+13) – who also struggled out there.
Poulter, who is a really fun follow on social media, shared this tremendous video from their lunch:
One of those days, combined table score of +29…comment your 4 ball that can relateš¤¦š¼@henrikstenson @McIlroyRory @TyrrellHatton pic.twitter.com/x0a9ZDNpbl

Hilarious. The way he delivers “29 over” makes me laugh each time and the use of muppets as an insult is just too good.
Twitter loved it:
like him or hate him you have to respect the fact that Ian Poulter is the only person on earth who could get away with referring to Rory McIlroy, Tyrrell Hatton and Henrik Stenson as "a bunch of muppets" https://t.co/EBxIB7B54B

Love seeing this. Some of the best golfers in the world sitting down for lunch after struggling in the 1st round at #THEPLAYERS. Makes me feel better that even the best struggle while Iām out here shooting mid 90s š. https://t.co/PFcJqwhK43

Not the key takeaway here but we should all strive to incorporate āwhat a bunch of muppetsā so effortlessly into our everyday lexicon. https://t.co/Phs54IvPR3
