Ian Book’s Senior Day message from Tommy Rees

Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book will play his final game at Notre Dame Stadium today and his OC Tommy Rees gave a heartfelt message to him.

It’s Senior Day at Notre Dame as the second-ranked Fighting Irish get set to take on a Syracuse team that enters at just 1-9.

Today the Irish can close out what would be their third unbeaten regular season under Brian Kelly and second in the last three years.

It’s also a day where all of the seniors and graduate students will be honored as they play their final games at Notre Dame Stadium.

Many Notre Dame assistant coaches took to Twitter to share well-wishes with their players who are concluding their home careers with the Fighting Irish today and they’re worth exploring a bit.

One that clearly stuck however was the message offensive coordinator Tommy Rees had for quarterback Ian Book.

Ian,
Forget your football accomplishments, I am more proud of the man and leader you have become.  Nobody has ever represented this program with more class and grit than you.  Everything you have accomplished has been earned, and there is no greater feeling than that.  Thank you for the last four years, you have made a tremendous impact on everyone you’ve come across; especially myself.  Let’s go get four more, 12.
-Coach Rees

Chances are likely that Book will exit Notre Dame Stadium today as the winningest quarterback in the long history of the Notre Dame football program as the Irish enter a 33 point favorite over Syracuse.

And absolutely yes to what Rees said, hopefully, this is just the first of four more wins that Book has in him in a Notre Dame uniform.
