‘I don’t worry about what people think. I know what we can do:’ Jimbo Fisher speaks before Aggies’ 17th fall camp practice

Jimbo Fisher spoke on Texas A&M’s recent fall scrimmage, the ongoing QB competition, true freshmen standouts, and more during his time at the podium Monday afternoon.

As the start of the 2023 college football season draws near for Texas A&M football, Head Coach Jimbo Fisher once again took the podium on Monday for his weekly press conference.

After the Aggies held their second fall camp scrimmage this past Saturday, Fisher spoke on his assessment of the team during that aforementioned scrimmage, while highlighting the handful of true freshmen such as offensive lineman Chase Bisontis and linebacker Taurean York who continue to impress and perform beyond their years. Fisher also addressed the versatile skillset that the Maroon and White have in their running back room, which will be a key group to follow throughout the 2023 campaign.

Naturally, Fisher addressed the ongoing position battle at quarterback between sophomore Conner Weigman and senior Max Johnson. In what has felt like the worst kept secret, both signal-callers have battled neck-and-neck for the starting job with the consensus belief that a decision on the starter will ultimately be made right up to the buzzer before Texas A&M’s Week 1 opener versus New Mexico on Sep. 2nd.

Below is Jimbo Fisher’s full press conference video from Kyle Field Media Center on Monday, as well as notable highlights from his time at the podium.
