Red Dead Redemption is without question one of the greatest cowboy games ever, but legendary filmmaker John Carpenter didn’t stick with it for long.
Best known for directing classic movies like Halloween, Escape from New York and The Thing, most people have likely seen one of Carpenter’s films. Lately, though, he’s mostly enjoying some much-deserved downtime. During a career retrospective interview with The New Yorker, Carpenter briefly spoke about how he spends many hours playing video games these days. His love for modern blockbusters like Horizon Zero Dawn and Halo Infinite knows no bounds, although it seems that adoration doesn’t extend to Red Dead Redemption — and you’d never guess why.
“I couldn’t get on the damn horse,” Carpenter said via The New Yorker. “I gave up. It was too hard.”
It’s not a matter of skill, either. Carpenter is by no means some newbie with this medium.
“I’m pretty good after all the years I’ve played. But with that one, I was terrible,” Carpenter continues via The New Yorker. “The controls weren’t intuitive, at least for me. But I guess everybody else had a good time. It was a popular game.”
Rockstar Games better be taking this into consideration for GTA 6.
